Snow Days or the Dog Days of Winter

Funnily enough, Matilda loves the snow. She runs throw it. Kicking up a cloud of snow behind her. Then she chases the snow she stirred up, which causes more to stir up and well, you get the picture. :) Haven't walked her much. I still don't like the snow.

PS: Matil's on youtube! Click here or look for 'Matilda spins' on a computer near you!

ps

Halloween! What a pretty princess she was! And I have the pix to prove it!

Chilly Sundays

ok, so I admit it. I don't like the cold. Today is windy cold and damp. Real November weather. So where is the Matil and me? Lounging on the bed on the warm blankets, listening to the windows rattle. And that suits us just fine. Her puppy hyperactivity has turned to a laid back lets chill kinda dog. ('cept when there are bunnies involved.) That, or I've bored her into a coma. What a lazy pair we are today

sorry, been busy

Matil has become quite the walker. Definitely has more confidence! When we're about a block from the cemetary she perks up and takes the lead as if she already knows where shes going.

Getting bigger, she knows, sit, down, speak and shake. What a smart baby!

Helen Keller moment

I saw the gears kick in, Matilda realized that going for a walk is not such a bad thing. It was like she realized, hey this could be fun!

Girls Day

Matil went on her first shopping trip today. We looked at new clothes and collars. We settled on a basic black leather number. Every girl needs a little black outfit. Of course, everyone fawned over her and she ate it up with a spoon.

We had the last round of puppy shots today. Shes up to 9lbs! Mrs was only 12lbs at her heaviest. Shes still scratching, wish I could get that under control. Today she started watching out the car window instead of sleeping.

Matilda has outgrown her pretty green baby collar. I had to put her into one of Mrs's old collars. I took the tags off, they were dated 1994! Shes getting sooo big! And still scratching.

3 times is a charm

Matil became brave today! She still can't handle busy traffic and buses scare the bejesus outta her. The hard part is the begining, its like she's afraid to leave home.
But today......... she walked in front of me, not dragged from behind. And she chased her first squirrel! Ahh.. shes getting so big and fast!

2nd walk

took a day off and we had the park to ourselves. Matil likes the slides. Go figure. Great day, 'til she ran in front of a car! That won't happen again!

She seemed to recognize the cemetry and ran for it! (which is where the car came in)Sometimes I see the ghost of Mrs. in her. I believe Mrs. sent Matil, thats how I knew the minute I held her to me. Our heartbeats were in sync.

3 months old

Matil is getting SO big! She's not the tiny ball of fur we brought home. She is becoming the dog she will be. You can see her peak through when you're not looking. I miss puppy breath and I'm sure I will soon miss the days when she was afraid to go down the stairs. But someday soon she'll be her own being. That's when we can walk without running back to the safety of the front porch whenever the traffic scares her. We'll explore all the places Mrs. and I used to visit. All my Little Dog's favorites. The cemetery, the bike trails, the city streets where we can watch life. People never notice you when you have a dog at the end of a leash. You fade into the background. It's a fine way to observe. This will be Matilda's world.
A city girl, walking the pavement. Chasing the squirrels. Walks in the woods when the weather is nice. Maybe spooking a gay couple having a tryst on the trail.. :) Matilda will know hot pavement in the summer and popsicles in the shade. Snow drifts, where she'll hafta be carried and warm naps in front of the heating vents.
